hey there

not much to rock this afternoon, I just saw that cartoon from this site and I liked it and wanted to use it.

Monday, I never wanted to see you again, but here you are, with your garbage trucks and coffee grinder sounds making my morning so difficult and, let’s face it, irritatingly redundant.

The weekending was active this week.  Went a friend’s movie premiere down at USC, where the architecture was very 1970’s but the sound systems were very much entrenched in the 21st.  It was interesting to around a bunch of film students--they tend to wear more corduroy and thicker glasses than the theater students I found myself surrounded by in college.  It was interesting to be on a college campus after what happened in Virginia last week, I mean, I didn’t see a bunch of security or anything like, it just made me remember what college was like and I was thankful, not for the first time, that I really had a great experience.  Of course, it seems like a million yesterdays ago.

Watch United 93 last night, randomly.  I was very much anti-Monday and just figured I’d watch it a bit and then watch the rest of it later this week.  Of course, once it started, I couldn’t shut it off.  I was...surprised?  that doesn’t seem to be the word.  I was...well, I noticed that I had a pretty visceral reaction throughout the film, especially in the beginning.  Not for the first time I wondered what leftover stresses, fears, nerves and rattlings are left in my psyche from all of that.  In all our psyches, I guess.  But in the end, the shock of the events were minor compared to the ongoing reminders of constant sorrow and death that permeated New York the months after.  What a sad, disjointed and lost winter 2001 was.

Went to The Brewery Artwalk this weekend for their open studio weekend.  Whit and I always just find out about it and make it on Sundays.  It’s a great event, and once again I reminded just how much more to LA than I expected when I first moved here.  Now I just gotta see some plays.

No idea when the commercials are going to start airing on a box near you.  The healthcare spot will start going in Massachusetts, but the two national spots...well, I thought they would be up by now.  When things go up, I will post them.  As I tried to fall asleep last night, I realized that I actually have a short film that I should put up on the site, so I will find the video and do that soon.

Otherwise, things are good.
