(Whit and I had a photo contest using this sculpture on top of the Met; I did mine so it looked like I was jumping from the countryside into the city...drink in hand, of course.)
Wow, what a crazy couple of days. Very good week, I must say.
- I had an interview with an agency that went extremely well...like, movie-style well, where they interrupt the meeting and tell you they want to sign you, then continue the rest of the interview...who knows what will happen, of course. (I am actually talking to my manager about this as I type this...my legs are tingling...he’s typing...okay...just a verification that the guy I interviewed was gonna tell his boss to go with me...still holding...) This would be, I have to say, a pretty great thing. The agency has some clout, and they represent some really great actors (including some of my friends)...so, I wait. I wait.
- I have an audition for a new TV show today that is all hush hush, apparently. It’s a co-star, just five lines, but they are good lines and it could easily be a recurring role, which would be dope. I am all memorized and really ready to go, especially since my acting class last week simulated exactly the situation I will be going into this afternoon. It’s going to go great, let’s aim for a callback.
- And I have another audition, a voiceover, in a few hours.
- Plus I have this full time job, which is actually getting a little crazy, to do. I will be here late tonight, then pick Whitney up from the airport.
So, it’s good. It’s like, as soon as I started taking the acting class, all this stuff started happening. I will admit, in addition to going back to keep myself polished and to keep practicing (the totally reasonable and rational set of reasons), I had the touchy-feeley, “if you are generating a particular kind of creative energy regularly, opportunities to spend that creative energy will start appearing” motivation as well. So far, so good. Touch and feel, dammit!
Oliver, Snow and Teo were in town this weekend and it was a lot of fun. I am, honestly, amazed at how much energy Snow and Oliver seem to be able to create...Teo is approaching 11 months and is just a ball of passion (and, at times, white hot fury, apparently, which I didn’t see). I was inspired and it helped me set a great deal of expectations of what day-to-day life with a baby was like. Hard! And tiring. I was ready to sleep at 9pm on Saturday. (I watched most of Being Julia and then went to be a bit later, but still. Tired.)
It was great, though, to see one of my oldest friends be a good dad, working with his wife to take care of this little baby.
Then, yesterday, after I vacuumed the house, did the laundry, washed the dishes, got the car wash and picked up a few comics, I went down to see Michael and Vanessa at their engagement party. Totally fun; they are a great couple. It’s crazy how fast it’s gone...in less than a month, it will be our wedding anniversary, which is when I first met Vanessa!
So, good stuff all around. I will post tonight to let you know what happened...
